Based on the volume and technology sector(s) of received applications, the South Texas RCIC will convene a regional screening committee typically 5 weeks prior to the meeting of the ETF Advisory Committee in Austin. This screening committee will elevate the applications based on a variety of factors which include at a minimum:
1. Intellectual property
2. Market size and dynamics
3. Management team strengths and weaknesses
4. Financial pro-formas submitted
5. Collaboration with a Texas institution of higher education
The regional screening committee is comprised of leading representatives from business, academe, government, and appropriate technology sectors. The regional screening committee makes its recommendations to the STRCIC staff who will then submit selected applications to the ETF Advisory Committee in Austin.
*At the time of this update, the dates of future rounds are subject to the outcome of the 2011 session of the Texas Legislature.
